Former Railway House
This railway house is an ingenious manifestation of contrast and alternation. The straight metal rails of the extension, making the small railway house literally break through its old walls, set off sharply against the softness of the surrounding dune landscape. The architectural transformation and extension by Zecc Architects, alternate the old elements and new additions in a surprising way. Exciting reversals between inside and outside occur, such as the interior of the dining room being the encapsulated exterior of the railway house, whereas the patio feels more like an interior space. Design classics are combined with found objects and a Persian rug rests on the hard untreated concrete.
